happened to "good morning america." he and his family were staying in one of the hotels that was bombed. he says he heard the explosion but he wasn't sure right away that it had happened at his hotel. when he did realiz it, he says it was horrific. >> we could see blood on the stairs and that something has definitely happened in this building. >> reporter: no group has claimed responsibility for the attacks, but the government is now blaming a local terrorist group. experts cited by "the new york times" said the group promotes an islamic terrorist ideology. you can watch more of the interview with the witness coming up on "good morning america." live in the newsroom, amy hollyfield, abc 7 news. amy, thank you. many people in the bay area are sending prayers to the victims in sri lanka. reporter cornell bernard has their reaction.

to appear in a san jose courtroom. holmes is accused of falsely claiming her company could run dozens of blood tests with a drop of blood. they say she hid the failures from customers and investors. they're ready for a judge to set a trial date. lawyers for holmes want more time before a trial. defense attorneys say they want more documents from the government. they've received close to 20 million pages. an attempted break-in at a biotech company ended with officeers in south san francisco shooting at the suspects. three men are in custody for burglary and attempted murder of a police officer. police say the suspects tried to break no a storage area at the genesis company yesterday. officers say the men intentionally rammed into a police car hurting an officer. police opened fire as two suspects ran away. the third suspect led police on a car chase into brisbane. all three were eventually caught and arrested. the injured officer is expected to be okay. happening today the man

accused of killing a college student after she got into a car she believed was her uber ride will appear in court this morning. nathaniel rowland has not entered a plea. he will be in court in south carolina. samantha josephson was murdered last month after mistaking his car for her uber. police say after she got into the car he activated the child safety door locks to prevent her from escaping. a zookeeper attacked by a tiger is recovering in intensive care according to the director of the topeka zoo in kansas. the attack happened saturday while the zookeeper was in the tiger's enclosure. the zookeeper has several years of experience with tigers. the zoo has no plans to euthanize the animal but are investigating to see what, if any, protocol changes need to be made. let's take a look at what's going on with our weather. we'll start with neighborhood temperatures and will go into the east bay valleys. you're going to see one of the biggest warming trends, nearly 40 degrees from the mid-40s this

morning and upper 40s. and then you can see concord, pittsburg, some low 60s. this area in the mid-40s that will see a 40-degree jump in temperatures today. we have upper 40s to low 50s all around the bay into the south bay. 48 right now inpafi.in novato. napa one of the cool spots at 45. san mateo bridge getting active as we look west across it. that little bit of fog around napa this morning otherwise pretty clear outside. mass transit and ferry ride cool to warm with light breezes today. let's take a look at our 12-hour planner. 48 at 7:00. 58 at 9:00. already in the mid-70s by noon and low to mid-80s this afternoon. comfortable evening. a touch warmer if you're in the sun, 75. in the east bay we go from 51. we stay in the 50s until about 9:00. mid-60s 11:00. mid-70s this afternoon. and one last stop in san francisco where on the hour we're looking at temperatures

that will be running in the upper 60s. i wouldn't be surprised the closer you are to downtown and the bay you'll hit some low 70s this afternoon. even warmer temperatures, the first time we may hit 90 since september coming up in the forecast. first i want to bring alexis in. how are we doing monday? >> crickets. crickets in the traffic center so far. >> nice. >> i'm not complaining. i'm sure anybody who is about to grab the keys and head out the door is not either. almost exclusively green on our traffic maps here today. as mike did mention we have a little bit of fog showing up on our visibility layer, napa, american canyon into vallejo. so state route 12, 29, even a little bit on interstate 80 you could have reduced visibility. i don't think it will be a huge issue. a quick check of the bay bridge toll plaza. no car-pool lanes yet no metering lights yet either. cash lanes not looking too bad e when the dk if you're using

be replaced on the richmond/san rafael bridge. a live look at thespan. they will spend $300,000 on the 60-year-old bridge. drivers have faced delays over the past few months due to chunks of concrete falling onto the lower deck. one incident forced the span to close for several hours in february. engineers blamed the problem on a failed expansion joint. state senator scott weiner will hold a press conference with community leaders about a political flier they're calling racist propaganda. many san franciscans received the flier in the mail. it equates a state housing bill written by wiener with, quote, negro remove, a reference to when the african-american population dropped from 15% to under 5%. wiener's bill would put more apartments and condos near b.a.r.t., muni and caltrain

in san mateo. 73 in millbrae. mid-60s along the coast today. upper 60s in daly city, pacifica and look at that downtown san francisco 73 degrees. low to mid-80s with mid to upper 60s at your coast. along the east bay shore we will be mainly in the mid to upper 70s. wouldn't be surprised around hercules and arenda. take a little drive. they're already picking fresh strawberries in the farms out in brett wood and they are delicious. a look at the accuweather forecast. look at tuesday and wednesday. we made a run at near 90. i'll have to look specifically. 80 around the bay and 70s at the coast. the temperatures just tumble back to average but not until sunday.

alexis? good morning, mike. easter monday is the thing. i was not aware of that. i don't think anybody is going to work or school, at least that's how it feels at 4:47 in the morning. we have zero incidents to talk about. no construction slowing you down. one slow spot westbound 205 to 580. 23 miles an hour on 205, about 16 for a very short stretch on 580. after that things really open up as you get through the altamont pass. mass transit off to a quiet start. trains run at 5:00 a.m. no delays there. ace 1 and 3 out of the central valley on time and should be a gorgeous day riding san francisco bay ferry. no delays. thanks, alexis. in the north bay two kayakers stranded for more than two hours in frigid water are now safe. the 21-year-old kayakers capsized saturday night. the coast guard, chp and four different fire departments sent search and rescue teams. you're looking at infrared

video. the kayakers were found off the shores of tiburon. they say the life jackets they were wearing likely saved their lives. one of the first documentaries about the campfire will be shown next month in mill valley for a fund-raiser. a screening of the campfire documentary will be may 14th. the campfire is the deadliest and most destructive fire in state history. all funds raised from the screening will benefit survivors and fire prevention program. rising costs unfortunately taking out another san francisco restaurant. we're going to tell you about the cafe that is now closed after nearly four decades in business. and san jose entrepreneurs pitch their business on "shark tank." find out if any sharks took the bait. >> firefighters in action for a different kind of rescue operation.

73 today. petaluma, 68 yesterday. 82 today this is only the beginning. let me show you the temperatures tomorrow. we are in the mid to upper 80s inland. mid-70s around san francisco around hayward, even 73. look at this, napa, concord, 90. 89 in fairfield and san jose. that is going to be the hottest day this year and then we'll drop off a little bit inland back into the mid-80s. notice some relief is starting to come thursday in the form of some 60s and 70s elsewhere and just keeps getting cooler through the weekend. hope you enjoy the warmth. here's alexis. we're off to an extremely quiet start on the roads looking live at the bay bridge toll plaza. starting to form.
